A Tribute to Oscar

Oscar was a beautiful, animal friend to Nicole for 14 years.  Oscar had quite an amazing last day on earth as his owner, Nicole and Nicole's sister, Colette spent last Saturday in much prayer.  After visiting the vet late that morning, they all decided that they would keep Oscar for the weekend and then make a decision to 'put him down' on Monday.  Nicole and her sister wanted to spend some quality time saying goodbye with their beloved Oscar.

So, after the vet, they went to the beautiful Rosary Garden in Jupiter, Fl. on the grounds of St. Peter's Catholic church.  Nicole and Colette, Oscar and Nicole's other Yorkie, named Linus walked and prayed the rosary with Oscar being carried in procession aong the rosary path of decades.  They saw a real owl in the tree and thought that was amazing.

When they got to the end of praying the rosary, they were at the big statue of Our Blessed Mother Mary. Their rosary prayers were finished, and poor little Oscar got sick and they knew it was time to go home.

Nicole and Colette brought him home and laid him on the couch.  Nicole remembered she had some Lourdes Holy Water that a friend had brought her and she sprinkled the holy water on Oscar and Linus and themselves and prayed some more.

Three minutes later, Oscar perked right up, raised his head, and opened his eyes wide.

At this time, they put Linus next to Oscar on the couch for their special goodbyes.  A little later, Oscar died peacefully.  Nicole loved her Oscar very much.  She will miss him but she knows there is eternal life and feels sure that her dear Oscar will be waiting for her in Heaven for God couldn't possibly have a Heaven without our furry friends that He gave us on earth.  Animals do not have souls, so they go right to Heaven.
And we can only hope that someone prays the rosary for us as we lay dying.  Pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

  1. Awww, so sorry to hear about Oscar. I could only hope for such a peaceful death! I pray that someone will parade me around and bring me before Our Lady while praying the rosary just like Nicole did for her dear furry friend. God Bless her. Blessed to meet you and thanks for stopping by over at my blog. When are you going back to Medj? Oh how my heart longs for that peace!

  2. This is a very beautiful story that John and his wife wrote about your day Nicole. It was sacred and beautiful how Oscar spent the day with you, Colette & Linus.

He was at peace and in the comfort of his own home with you all. Now he watches down on you like a new puppy with an abundance of energy and joy. He wants you to keep all of the happy thoughts and to make him proud.

    Best,

    Fernando

  3. God Bless Oscar and God Bless you Nicole and all those beautiful souls beside you. You are such an amazing person with great, pure heart and although it is painful, it is also very comforting to know that we all know Oscar is in the greatest place anybody will ever be.

What a peaceful and wonderful way to be greeted in to the Glorious Eternity of God our Lord.

My prayers always with you and all your loved ones Nicole.

    God Bless you all...

    Your friend,

    Helmut

  4. Nicole, I am so very sorry for the loss of Oscar. It is the most difficult decision for us to make, to let go of our little friends. I am sure that you are grateful for the way that oscar passed away, you really were blessed in that regard.
Your little story brings back wonderful memories of my little Yorkie "bentley", which I lost years ago, but still remember the great company he was to me.
I hope Linus is ok after loosing his running buddy! And I hope mom is ok too. I will say a special prayer on Sunday for you, Linus and of course Oscar.
    Fondly John C.

  5. Nicole, I have been praying for you and hoping you are doing ok (and little Linus too!). I know Oscar was a big part of your life and was so lucky to have you. You took such amazing care of him and showed him so much love in his final days. I know how special pets are and just wish they had longer life spans, but in the brief time we have them they bring so much joy and unconditional love. I know you have great memories that will help you heal.
    Love you, Karen

  6. In the short period of time that I knew Oscar I realized quickly how much of an amazing personality that little guy had. He lived a long happy life with his mom Nicole and based on the pictures enjoyed every moment of it. He will be dearly missed but we all know that Oscar is in a good place. To a dog that never gave up trying and maybe got a little Grouchy here and there... We'll all miss you Oscar... God Bless you little guy..
